Gilaranco company was founded in 1986 with the cooperation of a number of physicians, pharmacists and professors of the medicine universities of Iran. This pharmaceutical factory is located in Guilan province near to the Caspian Sea.

The main aims of this company are to get access to the latest technology and scientific standards in the field of medicated soaps, shampoos and other products especially for dermatological uses, in Iran.

The company began its activity as the first manufacturer of medicated soaps in Iran and has already been able to provide for all the needs of the country’s patients. We would now like to announce our preparations for the export of our products since our supreme aim is to put our products on the global market.

We would be glad to inform that according to the above-mentioned reasons, Gilaranco Company is one of the most well-known manufacturers in the field of dermatological preparations in Iran and is highly credited for that.

Our products are made based on G.M.P standards and at present we manufacture three types of medicated soaps such as Triclocarban 1% (TCC), Coal Tar 2% and
Sulfur 10% , which correspond with B.P and U.S.P standards.

Concerning liquid items we have managed to manufacture shampoos such as Permethrin 1% , Selenium Sulfide 1 & 2.5%, Coal Tar 1% Povidone Iodine 7.5%  and lotions such as permethrin 1%, Coal Tar 5%, Di Ethyl Tolamide (D.E.T) 30%.

We have also been licensed from Health Ministry to produce 20 preparations of various types of dermatological drugs which are presented in Iran Pharmacopoeia.


Coal Tar soap

Category: keratolytic; antipsoriatic; antiseborrheic 

Mechanism of action / Effect:Coal tar supresses the hyperplastic skin in some proliferative disorders. Although there is no confirmed evidence as to its pharmacologic efects. Its actions in humans have been reported as antiseptic, antipruritic, antiparasitic, antifungal, antibacterial, keratoplastic, and antiacantholic. Vasoconstrictive activitiy has also been reported. 

Indications:For the relief of itching, burning,. and other symptoms associated with generalized persistent dermatoses, such as psoriasis, eczema, atopic dermatitis, and seborrheic dermatitis, and for the control of dandruff. Coal tar  preparations are also used in conjunction with ultraviolet  (UV) light or sunlight, under the supervision of a physician, in the treatment of psoriasis or other conditions responding to this combined therapy .

 Side / Adverse Effects:Those indicating need for medical attention with rare incidence include skin irritation not present before therapy and skin rash ( folliculitis, allergic or irritant contact dermatitis, pustular or keratocystic response).

 Precautions to consider:

Cross sensitivity and/or related problems: patients intolerant of any of the tars may be intolerant of coal tar also.

Carcinogenicity: In animal studies, coal tar has been shown to increase the incidence of epidermal carcinomas and self-limiting keratocanthmas. Studies of patients with psoriasis who are treated with coal tar do not indicate an increased incidence of skin cancer .

Pregnancy and reproduction: Studies on teratogenicity have not been done in either animals or humans (FDA Pregnancy category C).

Breast-feeding: it is not known wether coal tar is excreted in breast milk.

Pediatrics: coal tar products should not be used on infants, unless under close supervision of physician . Adequate and well-controlled studies have not been done for use in children also .

Geriatrics: no information available on the use of this medication in geriatric patients.

 Drug interactions and / or related problems:Concurren use of coal tar with photosensitizing medications may cause additive photosensitizing effects ; Concurrent use of coal tar with systemic or topical methoxsalen or trioxsalen is not recommended .

 General Dosing Information: After using this medication patient should avoid exposure of treated area to sunlamps or direct sunlight for 72 hours unless otherwise directed by physician, since a photosensitivity reaction may occur . Before subsequent exposure to direct sunlight or sunlamps, all coal tar should be removed from patient’s skin. If coal tar is used in conjunction with ultraviolet (UV) light or sunlight, exposure to light may be undertaken 2 to 72 hours after coal tar is applied.

A determination of the minimal erythemal dosage (med) should be made for each patient and the initial irradiation should not exceed the MED.

 Dosage and Administration: For best results on hard scales, first soak in a warm bath then lather with the soap.

Usual adult dose : As a 2 % soap once or twice a day or as directed to the skin.

Usual pediatric dose : Dosage has not been established .


 Tricocarban soap1%

Category: Disinfectants

Active ingrediant: 3, 4, 4- trichloro carbanlide. 

Action: Triclocarban is an anilide disinfectant. It is bacteriostatic againts Gram-positive microorganisms but is less effective against Gram negative  microorganisms and some fungi .

 Indications: For cleansing and disinfection of skin in dermatologic disease.

 Warnings and precautions: When subjected to prolonged high temperature triclocarban can decompose to for toxic chloroanilines, which can be absorbed through the skin and cause methaemoglobinemia. it should not be used in hypersensitivity to each component of soap, especially lanoline.It should not be used in acute and severe eczema, infants up to 6 months, mucous membranes. Avoid contact with the eyes.

 Side effects: Rarely skin allergic reactions or hypersensitivity and mild photosensitivity have been reported.

 Dosage and Administration: Apply at least  twice a day, then rinse throughly

 How supplied: Triclocarban is available as a 1 % soap
